Andres Mustonen is an Estonian violinist and conductor, a renowned specialist in the field of medieval and baroque music, artistic director of the annual Tallinn Baroque Music Festival.
He graduated from the Estonian state conservatory, studied in Austria and the Netherlands. In 1972 he founded “Hortus Musicus”, the first Soviet ensemble to play early music on period instruments.
Mustonen’s repertoire is very varied: from pre-Bach pieces to avant-garde composers. He was the first to perform many pieces by Pärt, Kancheli, Gubaidulina, Penderecki, Sylvestrov, and others.
Maestro Mustonen is a welcome guest at musical festivals all over the world: in Berlin, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Glasgow, Moscow, Munich, Prague, Bpstpn, London, etc.
