Peter Guth is a well-known Austrian violinist and conductor, who follows Johann Strauss’ tradition in conducting from the violin.
Peter Guth graduated from the Vienna Academy of Music and studied at the Moscow Conservatory with David Oistrakh for three years. Peter Guth had his first international success as a soloist and with the Vienna Trio when he became the winner at the ARD-Competition in Munich. Since then he has accompanied many prominent vocal-soloists, was music director of the first Vienna Operetta Festival in Japan and conducted new operetta productions at international opera houses, as well as in his own TV-adaptations. In 2007 he was appointed the main guest conductor at the State Theatre of Musical Comedy in Saint Petersburg. As a conductor he has appeared with more than fifty different orchestras. He is the director of the Strauss Festival Orchestra (Vienna). Being well-known for his frequent radio and television appearances and various recordings, Peter Guth tours in many countries of the world and performs with famous symphony and chamber orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, the San Francisco Symphony, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.
