Grigory Kovalevskiy – one of the best-known bassists in the world, People’s Artist of Russia, soloist and director of the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, one of the best chamber orchestras in the world, which he founded together with Vladimir Spivakov and their friends in 1979.

Grigory Kovalevskiy has graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (double bass class under Professor A. Astakhov, and cello class under Professor V. Berlinskiy).

Grigory Kovalevskiy performs in the best concert halls all over the world, from Japan to the USA. Among his stage partners were S. Richter, Y. Bashmet, V. Spivakov, M. Rostropovich, D. Oistrakh, E. Virsaladze, N. Gutman, V. Krainev, E. Kissin, M. Pletnev, D. Sitkovetsky, G. Caussé, the Borodin Quartet, M. Tsimmerman, and others.

Grigory Kovalevskiy has released many solo albums on Melodiya, BMG, and Capriccio labels. He gives master-classes in different European countries.
